Child Welfare Officer Vacancy

Haddenham Rovers Colts FC are looking for a new Child Welfare Officer for the 2021/22 season.

As a club, our main priority is the safety and welfare of the players within our care. The role of Child Welfare Officer is therefore critical and one of the roles we are required to have in place in order to run the football club. The role forms part of the club’s core committee alongside the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.

This is a voluntary position that will require a minimum of a few hours of work per month. The exact amount of time will vary throughout the season. Occasionally, where an incident arises there may be more to do. The Welfare officer will also be required to attend monthly Committee meetings and report on activities undertaken during the previous month and notify the core committee of any upcoming activities or issues.  The Welfare Officer will also be responsible for attending county welfare meetings and also ensuring coaches and other volunteers at the club are up to date with any requirements of their role within the club.

Key Responsibilities of the Welfare Office Role.

The Club Welfare Officer has two key responsibilities these are:

1. To be clear about the clubs responsibilities when running activities for children and young people.

This involves:

• Ensuring these responsibilities are well understood by others

• Working with the Youth League Welfare Officer

• Working with the County FA (CFA) Welfare Officer and other CFA staff as appropriate, (e.g. CFA Disciplinary staff)

• Helping to develop best-practice processes and promoting The FA’s Respect Programme

2. To help club personnel understand what their ‘duty of care’ towards children and young people actually means and entails on a day-to-day basis

It is essential that the Club Welfare Officer is perceived as being approachable, having a child centred approach and the ability to maintain this perspective when carrying out their role.

Support will be provided by the club and current Welfare Officer, who will ensure there is a smooth transition for whoever takes on the role.

If you are interested in helping this friendly community club fill this essential position, and would like more information. Please get in touch by either responding to this message or contacting myself on the number below.
